Fizziotherapy offers physiotherapy treatment for a range of various physical and neurological conditions, such as:

Back injuries

Backs in humans are vulnerable, and hence are often injured. Not only does this cause pain but also a loss of income and uncertainty about a future. However, backs can be treated successfully by working on core stability through the activation of the right core muscles. These muscles can be managed by learning and practising the correct exercises, leading to a better quality of life.

Geoff Bell is an expert at managing back injuries, putting the patient in control of their rehabilitation and ongoing management though education and exercise, as well as manual therapy when required.

Neck injuries

Neck injuries can be painful, often stiff and sore for unknown reasons.

Geoff Bell is able treat neck pain. First by diagnosing and determining the severity of the problem and then by manually mobilising the individual joints of the neck and relaxing the neck muscles that are usually in spasm.

Once this is done Geoff will provide a series of exercises to maintain the neck mobility and strength.

If further investigation is required Geoff can organise this either directly or via your GP.

Sports injuries

Rehabilitation from sports injuries is a vital part of any athletes career, be it amateur or professional. Geoff Bell is able to diagnose and then treat specific sports injuries through strengthening, mobilising and stabilising.

Neurological conditions

Geoff Bell is a neurological physiotherapist with many years of experience, he is passionate about a person regaining as much function as possible, allowing them to integrate back into home and community life.

Stroke

Stroke is a brain injury caused by either bleeding or blood vessel blockage in the brain. It causes a loss of function or movement of that part of the body controlled by the part of the brain affected by the stroke.

Acquired Brain Injury (ABI)

Like Stroke, Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) can affect a person in a variety of different ways, caused by damage sustained from infection, disease, lack of oxygen (hypoxia) or a blow to the head. Due to the varied effects of ABI, each rehabilitation must be very functional. Geoff is able to provide tailor made treatment for ABI patients.

Parkinson's Disease

Parkinson's Disease is treated with both an exercise program depending on the stage of the disease, as well as an education program for patients so they can maximise their function with some cognitive "tricks" to get their body doing the things they want to.

Multiple Sclerosis

Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is a disease that affects the brain and spinal cord. A person with MS often needs advice and medication to control spasticity; exercise to improve muscle strength and movement retraining to maximise function, along with prescription of walking aids and orthotics.

Nerve injuries

Nerve injuries often involve splinting of the part and graduated re-education and strengthening of the muscles supplied by the nerve. Along with functional re-training of the muscles affected by the injury.

Spinal cord injuries

Rehabilitation from spinal cord injuries often involves training wheel chair skills, stretching programs, strengthening programs to maximise function (especially if the person has an incomplete spinal injury) and training of movements.

Vestibular rehabilitation

The vestibular system, situated in the inner-ear, controls both balance and spatial orientation for the purposes of movement. Dizziness, loss of balance and vertigo are all symptoms of a Vestibular disorder. Fizziotherapy can provide effective rehabilitation for vestibular disorders.

Geoff will thoroughly assess your physical state such as posture, balance and gait to provide effective exercises to help rehabilitate vestibular disorders.

Arthritis

Fizziotherapy provides treatment for all forms of Arthritis including Osteoarthritis, and inflammatory Arthritises such as rheumatoid, psoriatic and ankylosing spondylolisthesis.

Physiotherapy management of arthritis involves specific and graduated strengthening programs, orthotic prescription to assist in immobilising the joint when needed. Also, biomechanical correction is often needed again via prescription of orthotics.

Geoff works in conjunction with rheumatologists to facilitate maximum improvement and management of the complex condition.
